In a recent paper, there was a letter that hit home with me.
My son and his wife bought a property in Vernon and there was a problem with the septic system. I went to see if there was any information on file, and was told there was a $50 fee.
It was my tax dollars that built this entire system — land buildings, equipment, wages, benefits, you name it, yet to access any of it, I must first pay $50, just for the clerk to walk down the isle, pull open a file drawer and look inside.
So much for public service.
