A resident provides his thoughts on airplanes and noise

I would like to reply to the letter from J. Goode regarding skydivers.

I also have lived close to the airport for 20 years and in that time, I have never had any cause of complaint until this year.

While skydiving in itself is obviously enjoyable for the participants, and local entrepreneurs deserve support, I cannot agree with J. Goode’s assertion that the noise of the airplane is comforting.

For me and I am sure many others, it is irritating and spoils the tranquility  that I have enjoyed in my house and garden.

The money spent on trying to make this airplane quieter has been wasted.

This is, in my view, another example of the pleasure and monetary gains of a few being to the detriment of the many.
