On Monday, I had day surgery at Trail’s Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital. Unable to drive home, I needed to stay over night in Trail. A taxi to pick me up, deliver me to a motel, then repeat in reverse the next day to retrieve my vehicle was not my number one choice.
So, I asked a family of three who were waiting in the lobby of the hospital, ‘if they knew of anyone who could drive my vehicle with me as the passenger to a motel and have someone else follow to pick up the driver?’…thus, having my vehicle with me.
I was ever so grateful and also very amazed at their kindness and compassion in offering to help me.
You see, this family was waiting there in the hospital lobby, concerning one of their own family member’s medical emergency. We waited until affairs had been set in place for their family member and then they kindly took care of me.
An act of Christmas kindness? Maybe. But I am inclined to think that this family has genuinely kind and giving spirits all year round.
This family, although they were dealing with their own problems that evening, offered to help me – a total stranger.
To Debbie, who drove my vehicle, and her brother and sister who followed, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your most appreciated kindness toward me
I pray that your Mom recovers very soon.
And thank you to the Sanctuary House who had a bed for me Monday night.
Are there angels amongst us? This is proof that there are.
I was blessed Monday evening. It turns out I wasn’t alone after all.
God bless you and Merry Christmas.
