The Oak Bay deer cull plot thickens. The mayor of Oak Bay has stated repeatedly that the deer cull will be done humanely. In its request for proposals, Oak Bay condones the bleeding out of a deer if the bolt gun misfires.
The B.C. SPCA states, and rightly so, that letting a conscious animal bleed to death is cruel and not acceptable. They have asked for a meeting with the contractor to review the techniques but Oak Bay has refused to respond.
Now Oak Bay has possibly started to cull but will not divulge when or where. This action on their part is a true indication that the cull will not be conducted humanely and contrary to what the mayor has stated. All the facts point to that.
