Now that was a show. Kudos to Norm Crerar and his committee and all the volunteers for their excellent presentation of a Military Tattoo at Kal Tire Place.
The music, the colour, the dancing and the precision movements – all combined to make the tattoo a most entertaining spectacle.
Following the haunting notes of the Lone Piper (Jim Wright, former pipe major of the Shuswap Pipes’n Drums) the entry of the massed bands to stirring march tunes brought the audience to its feet to loud applause.
The performance, which was close to a sell-out on both days, was a tribute to the efforts of all involved and the organization that has been going on for many months. Bringing together performers and groups from distant parts of the country and co-ordinating several local talented groups was a daunting task. The choreography of the entrances and exits of the various groups was both precise and impressive, as were the talents and energy of the performers.
As a two-time participant at the famed Edinburgh Tattoo, in my opinion Vernon can well be proud of the version presented by Norm and his co-workers. It was a great all-round effort, and the spectacle presented by the grand finale was truly marvellous. It was something to remember.
