Angels among us

My thanks to the kind man who offered to give this woman, with her bags of groceries, on Pioneer Crescent, a lift

With the repeated dumps of snow we’ve experienced here recently and with limited snow removal equipment, getting out and about has presented its own challenges. While the main highways and arteries have been plowed, there have been freezing conditions and yet more snow that have rendered them precarious at best. Then there are all of the side and secondary roads.

Because of my tenuous eyesight, I moved to Parksville a few months ago to a spot where I’m now within walking distance of pretty much everything I need. So, snow, ice, tricky footing nothwithstanding, I trekked into town to pick up a few groceries. On my way home a white pickup pulled up beside me, the driver rolled down the passenger window and asked if I’d like a lift. I was close to home so no, I didn’t, but thanked him for stopping and being so considerate.

Apart from the dismal conditions we’re currently experiencing, apart from the fact that classes, schools, travel in general have been cancelled, apart from the fact that people are housebound and getting tired of the fact, ‘they’ exist. Those kind-hearted people who are willing to help, in small or large ways. The worst always brings out the best.

My thanks to the kind man who offered to give this woman, with her bags of groceries, on Pioneer Crescent, a lift.
