Backup dispatch a good idea for the region

The proposed upgrade to the Langford centre should include the capability to serve the entire area if needed.

One thing that I have not seen addressed in suggestions that the South Island should have one dispatch centre is the backup in case of earthquakes. In my many years in the Canadian Forces we were taught to always have an alternate headquarters in battle. The same principle should apply in emergency response capability, in my opinion. The proposed upgrade to the Langford centre should include the capability to serve the entire area if needed.
