Having been an army wife for 20 years, I have been lucky to have been to every province from coast to coast. Visited many cities and seen many sights. During that time there have been hospital visits both on army bases and civilian ones. Children having accidents, surgeries and what have you. There was one place I never wanted to need or see. That one place is the ICU of a hospital. That has all changed now.

After only one day, July 25, of being terribly sick, I had to call 911 to take my hubby to the hospital. The two medics were very friendly and professional and had him in the ambulance in no time. By 9:30 a.m. the next morning, he was in the OR in the wonderful care of Dr. Hwang Sr. and his team. From there he went to the ICU on life support and in critical condition. The care he got here was unbelievable.

Minute-by-minute care, watching and checking. This place was so full of equipment, patients and staff that there’s not an inch of space to spare. How crowded is it you might ask? When they brought in a portable X-ray machine to X-ray his stomach, I had to wait in the hallway to allow room for the machine to come in.

Our doctors, nurses and staff do a job that save lives every day. They do it willingly and lovingly and in old cramped rooms. These angels deserve better treatment then this. We have no say in millions being spent on games and such. It’s time we demand millions be spent on much needed modern bright new rooms for our doctors and their staff.

Without them lives would be lost every day. Two empty floors in the tower are an insult to the medical staff and to us, who depend on them for help. We all deserve better then this.

They saved my husband’s life.
