I purchased lilies for my intimate wedding and asked if you would show me how to wrap the ribbon around the stems. Your response was ‘I am not giving away trade secrets.’ I attempted it, but failed. Thanks to you, I walked down the aisle with no wedding bouquet.

BOUQUET To the driver who took the time to leave a parking pass with time on it at the pay station in a public parking garage. Your kind gesture, when I had to go to a stressful appointment, made my day.

BEEF Another epic fail by mayor and council. Maybe if they spent less money on an events centre most don’t want they would have enough money to salt and plow our roads adequately.

BOUQUET To City of Nanaimo public works employees for their hard work during our recent snowy weather.

BEEF To the city for not enforcing the bylaw to shovel the sidewalks in front of businesses and malls and houses. It is difficult to walk on the sidewalks after the snow from the streets are plowed on the sidewalks.

BOUQUET To Ray the window cleaning guy for cleaning the Canadian Cancer Society windows as a way he could give back.

BOUQUET To my son for clearing my driveway. Also clearing my neighbour’s as well. Thank you Gary. Love Mom.

BEEF I would to thank the bakery for the lovely pink hair in my product. Really made my day and purchase special.

BOUQUET To our neighbours David and son Noah for taking time out on a Saturday to shovel all the snow from our long driveway and sidewalks.

BEEF I purchased lilies for my intimate wedding and asked if you would show me how to wrap the ribbon around the stems. Your response was ‘I am not giving away trade secrets.’ I attempted it, but failed. Thanks to you, I walked down the aisle with no wedding bouquet.

BOUQUET To our neighbour Maria who shovelled our double driveway and sidewalk as well as her own.

BEEF To the beefers of the 2017 collection schedule. We get it, the city gets it. Take a pen, choose a collection type, put a check beside all the same collections. Move on.

BOUQUET To Shelby and Doug. You have made me very happy with my eighth great-grandson Sawyer. Love nanny Trish.

BEEF To the cashier. When I asked for help to load my grocery cart because my back was bad she said if I need help I should bring a person with me and loading groceries is not her job.

BOUQUET To the lady who helped me with an asthma and anxiety attack and unable to clear windshield of snow and drive safely. Wish I had your name to send you flowers of thanks.

BEEF To the clinic. Please unlock both entrance doors. The unlocked door is very heavy to open as it is attached to the handicap door opener.

BOUQUET To our managers Cheryle and Al at Deerwood for working so hard to keep our roads safe.

BEEF To the suggested new events centre and what a terrible design.

BOUQUET To the young lady who stopped to help when I got high-centred on Howard Avenue and to my neighbours Dylan and Amanda who finally got me moving again. I love Harewood.

BEEF To people who use self-serve checkout service in a time when we are losing jobs. You are giving already rich corporations free labour.

BOUQUET To the employees at Greenrock liquor store. They helped my mother while her vehicle wouldn’t start. They tracked her down and let her use the phone.

BEEF To the general public in Nanaimo. If you don’t have anything positive or good to say when dealing with grocery or retail clerks, don’t say it.

BOUQUET To the very kind man who helped me when I fell outside of Quality Foods Northridge. Also thank you to the QF staff who were so supportive.

BEEF To the city for doing a poor job collecting garbage or clearing snow. I shovelled my road for years. At 82, I can’t do it anymore.

BOUQUET To the person who found my rings in day surgery. It’s very important to me. It was my mother’s so please turn it in to lost and found.

BEEF To those big dog owners who do not pick up after their dogs on Front Street and especially along the seawall to Maffeo Sutton Park. You give us responsible dog owners a bad name.

BOUQUET To Nancy Gillies Electrical Services for your kindness to Friends of Haven Thrift Shop.

BEEF To the bus driver who couldn’t wait five seconds for my daughter to get on the bus – even though my son said, ‘please wait; my sister is right there,’ he shut the door and drove away. Show respect to all riders, please.

BOUQUET To all the city workers. The hidden heroes who are making the streets safer for all of us during snowy weather.

BEEF To the parking company. The meter at the hospital ate my money without dispensing a ticket. By the time I had gone to the front desk to inform them of the malfunction, I had a ticket waiting and a specialist appointment missed.

BOUQUET To the sweet young ladies who presented me with a gorgeous bouquet at Port Place mall. You made my day.

BEEF To the strata properties and fire stations that can’t be bothered to clear their sidewalks at all.

BOUQUET To our former mayor for informing Nanaimo taxpayers regarding the multiplex.

BEEF To those vehicles displaying an ‘N’ and cruising the fast lane at 30 km over the limit. You don’t have the experience or knowledge, that is why you have the ‘N.’
