BOUQUET To News Bulletin readers. We’re keeping with tradition and publishing only bouquets on the first Beefs & Bouquets page of the year. Happy new year!
BOUQUET To the outstanding staff at Rexall on Bowen Road. You have provided excellent customer service to my senior parents for their complex prescriptions and flu shots and all your staff members are wonderful communicators and highly professional.
BOUQUET To the RCMP officers patrolling on bicycles downtown. They are cheerful and say good morning and are out and about even when the weather is horrible. I really appreciate their presence on the streets. They make a difference. Thank you.
BOUQUET We at B.C. Pensioners and Seniors Branch 4 on Labieux Road thank Nanaimo’s Country Grocer most sincerely for the generosity they have shown us for many years. We finance our centre and activities through our own efforts, community support and whatever grants we have been able to qualify for, so their kindness to us is especially appreciated. We know they help other organizations in our community, so their generosity is that much more laudable.
BOUQUET To my momma who turned 70 on Dec. 23. While we couldn’t quite celebrate the way we wanted, you deserve to be showered with 70 different happy birthdays. I love you and my sisters probably do too and the grandkids definitely do!
BOUQUET To our neighbours in the Hawthorne neighbourhood, many of whom have created an enjoyable and beautiful season with all the wonderful house decorations and lights this year.
BOUQUET I wish to thank all the staff and doctors at NRGH and the fire department and ambulance for the wonderful care you took of mom after her stroke. Her memory will not be forgotten, nor her final moments. Thank you very much for keeping her safe.
BOUQUET To Leslie, for bringing me into your home, letting me into your family, and making me feel like a valued human being again. I’ll never forget your generosity.
BOUQUET I was so pleased to see flashing lights at McRobb and Uplands. As a driver and walker, mostly the latter, I breathed a sigh of relief. Thanks so much.
BOUQUET To the gentleman with the large backpack in Smitty’s south-end restaurant. What a wonderful surprise when this senior couple was informed their bill had been paid. You had left by the time we had finished. We will pay it forward.
BOUQUET My dear wife was in NRGH surgical ward after a fall. She left some cash on the bed and when the laundry was done off-site, one of the staff noted this cash and took it to management. Unbelievably, the staff located the right hospital, ward and patient and returned the cash. Thanks to coordinator Sheri and the dedicated staff.
BOUQUET To the Cassidy school bus driver. With his bus stopped, his lights flashing as well with his stop sign out, a motorist still didn’t stop. The bus driver immediately honked his horn. His actions saved a couple children from being hit, crossing the road. Thanks to his quick thinking and awareness, a tragedy was avoided.
BOUQUET To all the cities planning an electric vehicle charging levy. Nobody driving an electric car should get a free ride.
BOUQUET Many thanks to the Iron Oxide Art Supplies clerk for such super service on my recent order; and it was all done with a smile and positive attitude. Here’s to shopping locally.
BOUQUET To every single staff member that I came into contact with when I had day surgery. Everyone was cheerful, friendly, relaxed and professional. The team in pre-op, surgery and post-op were amazing. Thank you to my orthopedic surgeon Dr. Birchard, it was my first time meeting you and you made me feel confident that I was in good hands. My anesthesiologist was wonderful as well. Thank you all for your kindness and ability to perform so well during these trying times.
BOUQUET Heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Nanaimo FYidoctors eye centre. My son arrived from the north Island with a serious eye condition. We went to the FYi office without an appointment and after a quick assessment and a few questions he was accepted. Dr. Pratt removed metal particles from both his eyes, and we are so very grateful for the excellent care he received.
BOUQUET I had to go to Nanaimo hospital and everything was good. People there were all so upbeat and lovely, smiling and some had terrific sense of humour. Kudos to all of you and a big thank you.
BOUQUET To Don who delivers this paper on Southampton Road and many other streets around here. He does a great job in rain, snow and shine. Cheers!
BOUQUET To the lady at Dairy Queen drive-thru. I was having a very stressful day trying to get help for a very sick husband. For some reason you kept backing up in the drive-thru. When I got up to the window you had paid for my lunch. Such a thoughtful kindness that I really didn’t deserve gave me such a lift I just have to say thank you. You made my day and I will pay it forward.
BOUQUET Thank you to Milano’s for installing a take out window. Makes picking up take-out orders safe and efficient. In addition, the very upbeat and cheery staff and cooks keep me coming back.
BOUQUET Thank you to Christina the fine art student working at Michael’s who was incredibly helpful. She shared her knowledge and didn’t make me feel like an idiot when purchasing art supplies.
BOUQUET I would like to recognize the honesty of the lady who accidentally took my shopping cart that had my purse at Costco. I was frantic and when you returned it I did not get the opportunity to thank you and show my appreciation. I am very grateful to you. May God bless you for your honesty.
BOUQUET Thank you to Baywood Glass for an outstanding job done on an old oak barometer.
BOUQUET To Devam working at Woodgrove Save-On-Foods for always being generous and happy to help. I was shopping in the store and he had not started his shift, but he helped me to find some things I wanted. He surely goes the extra mile.
BOUQUET To every small business trying to follow the rules even though the authorities can’t see the forest from the trees by shutting you down at a moment’s notice. You all deserved the most joyous holiday season for all of your efforts to be kind and caring.
BOUQUET To Cheri at the Central Drugs post office on Bowen Road. She is always so friendly and efficient. Despite the long Christmas lineups Cheri is patient beyond belief and makes the post office experience almost a joy. Thanks!
BOUQUET Thanks to the Nanaimo Foundation and its donors for supporting the participation of vulnerable youths in the Islands Short Fiction Contest. The Nanaimo Arts Council, its members and subscribers appreciate your community contribution to arts and culture.
BOUQUET To all the paper boys and girls, these essential workers never stop delivering the paper. Please remember them when it’s snowing, raining or hot outside.
BOUQUET To High View Optical. You three ladies are so helpful and wonderful . You fixed my son’s glasses with no trouble, explained to me exactly what happened to them and wanted nothing for it. You made my day.
BOUQUET To Michele and her husband, a huge thank you for finding and returning my handicap parking pass to me, your kindness was greatly appreciated.
BOUQUET To Sawmill Direct for its generous donation of an enormous pile of cedar planks to Bayview Elementary’s shop program. When asked, Rick couldn’t say yes fast enough and many happy students got to make hands-on Christmas projects. Much appreciated, and support local.
BOUQUET Thank you to the person(s) who turned my keys in to the NRGH emergency room and took the time to leave a note on my windshield. I cannot tell you how much I appreciate your kindness and consideration – you saved me from what could have been considerable loss and complication. Best wishes to you. I will pay this forward when opportunity presents.
BOUQUET To Corinne, Pat, Vi, Rosa, doctors Love and Chelsea and all the other wonderful staff at NRGH’s palliative care unit. Your kind, caring and compassionate care dispensed to my wife Louise while she stayed with you was exactly what she needed. I was afraid that I’d lose her, but thanks to you she’s back, in more ways than one. May God bless you all.
BOUQUET To Island Health and their home support program. Your cheerful, caring people come unfailingly to help my wife Louise. We can always depend on you. You do a difficult, challenging job well and I know I speak on behalf of all recipients of your care in saying thank you. God bless all of you.
BOUQUET Thank you to Dawn at Walmart in Duncan for asking if my gift cards were presents for others. A lot of elderly get scammed so I am thankful for her taking a minute to ensure I was not being scammed and that they were just Christmas presents.
BOUQUET To the grocery deliverers, the Instacart shoppers, and the in-store pickup/delivery shoppers. Two days before Christmas, in less than 12 hours from order to delivery, the shopper/delivery driver picked out and delivered every single thing for a perfect holiday feast, including a fresh, never-frozen turkey. No thawing time needed!
BOUQUET I would like to give a shout out to Marsh and Son Jewellers for their amazing integrity and kindness. This is a business that truly respects and values its customer much more than earning a dollar. I am in awe of their business practices and want to thank them so much.
BOUQUET To Jinglepot Landscaping and Irrigation, which answered inquiries promptly, showed up when expected and did a beautiful job for less than the estimated price. Such old-fashioned professional integrity is rare these days.
BOUQUET To the Kindergarten teachers and students in Seaview Elementary School. A big thank you for your fantastic imaginative stories with hand-drawn pictures of how you rescued Santa from being stuck in the chimney. We loved the way your minds, pencils and crayons worked. The many residents of Origin in north Nanaimo laughed a lot as we read them. Thank you so much for thinking of us.
BOUQUET To Gifts for Kids. Such a lovely little store with lots of great toys, crafts and much to my husband’s delight, high-quality and affordable 1000-piece puzzles suitable for teen and adult ability levels. Check out this wonderful, friendly local store.
BOUQUET to Doug, Tanya, Niki, Dusty and other members of Wisteria Community Association. You let nothing stand in the way of delivering food, a hot beverage, clothing and whatever else you can to Nanaimo’s homeless. As the Kiwis (New Zealanders) say, ‘good on yer!’ You are part of the solution.
BOUQUET To the staff members who helped us at Canada Post East Wellington Road branch. They went above and beyond to help us when my granddaughter had a problem we needed help with. The staff there was amazing with all they did for us.
