Thanks to Old City Organics, Island Natural Markets, the First Unitarian Fellowship of Nanaimo and those who attended Dr. John Yim’s fundraising talk – Natural Defense in a Toxic World – and donated so generously. Yim donated $1,200 to the Canadian Red Cross’s Japanese Relief Fund.

a bouquet to the person who found my necklace in the imaging department at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. I didn’t notice it was gone until I got home. The pendant has sentimental value to me because it was my mother’s, so thanking the receptionist is not enough. There is no price tag on a daughter’s keepsake.

Wonderful Memories to the organizers of the Nanaimo John Shaw High reunion for graduating classes 1951-53 for a wonderful time. Thanks to Sid and all the committee members for including the 1952 class. It was so great seeing faces from the past, some we recognized and some we didn’t, but all in all I think we all aged well.  Hopefully we will be invited back for the next get-together.

a Huge Bouquet to the staff at West Coast Furniture on Metral Drive. I have never met such friendly, knowledgeable sales staff. This store is a hidden gem, with a selection of beautiful furniture in many types of wood and many stains, made here in B.C. The service that I received from beginning to end was above and beyond and I love my new dining room and bedroom sets. I will be back.

A huge thank you to Bob Ducharme and Dan of the Métis Veterans Association, who lovingly provided a veteran portion to our celebration of life for John Godfrey. Bob and John were in the Korean War at the same time yet didn’t know each other. I especially appreciated the poppy pinning that everyone participated in.

Thank you to the Costco Readers who come to Departure Bay Elementary School and work with our students on literacy skills. Your many volunteer hours have made a meaningful difference to students you’ve mentored.

A most appreciative thank you bouquet to nurses Heather and Laura on the sixth floor of Nanaimo Regional General Hospital for the wonderful care I received during my recent hospital stay. It shows that you both love your jobs and are very caring people.

A HUGE bouquet to the nice couple who found my camera near Biggs Road recently and returned it to me the next day. I had so many important things on that camera.

A beautiful bouquet of wagging tails and wet kisses to the person who decided to put a bucket of water by the sidewalk on Nelson Road.  Humans often forget about their four-legged companions, who suffer from dehydration while following their owners on their walks/runs.  They can’t speak for themselves, so it warms my heart to see that someone has been so thoughtful and caring.

a bouquet to Stefan and his staff at Frontrunners Nanaimo for helping me find the perfect pair of running shoes. I would also like to thank Stefan for going out of his way to help me with my purchase when he did not have to. You made my day.

A big bouquet of paint and pinstripes to Craftsman Collision for helping us with our son’s graduation present. His motorbike looks red, black and awesome.

a sincere thank you to Thrifty Foods and Popeye’s Supplements at Longwood Station, as well as New York Style Pizza on Wallace Street for supporting our fundraiser tea at the Longwood Clubhouse. From the Sons of Norway Lodge.

A beautiful bouquet and many apologies to the driver of the red truck. I lost my focus and made a left turn from the wrong lane and he was able to avoid me.

A beautiful bouquet of roses to the amazing staff at the Nanaimo Athletic Club. It’s always so wonderful to be greeted with a smile. Thank you for the excellent service and your commitment to fitness. Your new facility sets the standard and it’s appreciated how much you value the members’ input in all aspects of the club.

A humongous bouquet of thanks and acknowledgements to Roy Hesser and the Columbia Bakery for their contributions to and support of the RCACC 2422. You are wonderful.

A bouquet of kudos and compliments to Captain Brad McRoberts and his support staff, including Barbara Taylor of the sponsor committee, for their extraordinary leadership skills and commitment to the RCACC 2422.

A first-place ribbon to Deb and Kim Sywak and their volunteers for making another Mini Olympic track meet a reality. Nanaimo school district’s senior special needs students had an amazing day.

a beef to the people who continue to dump their daily household garbage on a south Nanaimo street, where many of their neighbours live and walk. I will be returning your items to you personally. Thank you for including your contact information. The authorities will be in touch.

A disgusted beef to whoever took the memorial bear on Doumont Road and placed it at the bus stop.  I dropped my son off at school and came back to grab the bear and put it back and it was gone. Have you heard about karma?

an Are-you-for-real beef to the beefer who told us to give our head a shake and learn some manners. This person was replying to a beef about cashiers asking if people want the penny change. Just do your job and give the correct change owed, pennies included. I’ve never experienced anyone dropping unwanted pennies on the floor. You are the rude one asking for money that is not yours.

a beef to dog owners who walk their dogs along the E&N Trail and don’t pick up after them. Now that the weather has turned nice, all I can smell on my commute to work is dog poop roasting in the sun. People like you shouldn’t even be allowed to own dogs. The fact that you think it’s acceptable to just leave feces lying around in public places makes me wonder what your own personal hygiene is like.

A beef to the person who dumped four baby bunnies at Country Club Centre after Easter.

A beef to a dog owner in the Uplands Drive area. Please keep your dog inside the house. All night this dog barks every hour for 20 minutes at a time. Some of us work early in the morning and are constantly woken up by this dog. I can hear other neighbours trying to get this animal to be quiet to no avail. If you are not home, find someone to look after your dog. Be a responsible pet owner and neighbour. I am at the end of my tired rope.

a beef to people who park in residential areas just to get free parking during the workday. You need to obey the signs. If you don’t, you deserve your violation ticket.

A beef to a landscaping company for its teatment of a young family. Though paid in full, you did not complete services and wanted to charge more money to complete and fix the job. Shame on you.

a beef. Enough with the violent hits in hockey. It’s bad when people cheer this on. I hope the National Hockey League does more to stop it.
