Beef of the Week: To a business contractor of a large store who robbed my children of their childhood possessions, two suitcases, a wooden briefcase-style of game – gift from parents, now deceased – and a spoon collection.

BOUQUET To my sister Chrissy who had her first baby in March and is already doing a great job being an amazing mom.

BEEF To the drivers who speed along the Nanaimo Parkway. With summer coming, we are going to see more traffic on the parkway with many vacationers who are not familiar with the area roads and will be cautious. Be courteous and respectfully share the roads.

BOUQUET To Hector and Rosa for being the  best in-laws a person could ask for.

BEEF To the noisy security guard downtown at night; your muffler wakes me up at all times of the night. I’m pretty sure you’re supposed to walk around at night.

BOUQUET To the woman and her elderly mom who had an 18-year-old dog dropped off at their home.

BEEF To the beefer saying the SPCA didn’t want the dog. The Nanaimo SPCA would have taken the dog and made sure it got the care it needed.

BOUQUET To the beefer about new technology and loneliness. I am a house-bound hermit so I feel for you. You can call Literacy Nanaimo and they will fix you up with a refurbished computer and give you instruction.

BEEF to everyone who keeps writing in about the man who opened a door for a woman; let it rest and move on – I’m sick of reading about it.

BOUQUET To the brilliant staff and volunteers at the Port Theatre Society for helping us to pull off the 2016 Culture and Heritage Awards Ceremony. It couldn’t have happened without you.

BEEF To a business contractor of a large store who robbed my children of their childhood possessions, two suitcases, a wooden briefcase-style of game – gift from parents, now deceased – and a spoon collection.

BOUQUET To the brave patient who addressed his nurse’s attire and unsettling, ineffective practice. As a co-worker, I and many colleagues have expressed similar concerns. Hopefully you addressing this will result in some positive action.

BEEF To the person who put in a complaint to the city bylaw office about posters posted in the area of a lost cat. The owner of the cat is devastated that his cat escaped and he spends hours searching and advertising for the return of his loved pet. The person who complained is obviously not an animal lover.

BOUQUET To everyone who donated to the SPCA at our recent garage sale. $50 and we matched it.  I know the cats and dogs will appreciate your generous donations.

BEEF To the chain restaurant. Your lack of professionalism is tacky. Was told I’d be called whether I got the job or not. Never called. Called them next day. Interviewer not yet in and would call “if not too busy.” Never called.”

BOUQUET To every employer that has a busy schedule and still does not keep potential staff waiting all day to hear from them and has the courtesy to stick to their word.

BEEF To our school superintendent John Blain. Are you kidding me? A pay increase of $37,558? And to think we can’t even get my children’s hopscotch repainted at their school.

BOUQUET To my mom for Mother’s Day. I know that every child claims they have the best mom in the world, but they are liars because you are the best.

BEEF To the women in the white Honda CR-V speeding on Harrier Road. Don’t be so angry and defensive when you get caught. Slow down.

BOUQUET To Steve Marshall Ford for making our car-buying experience such a good one. You guys are all awesome.

BEEF To the person who would steal a 96-year-old lady’s Mother’s Day planter from her front porch on Duggan Road one day after she received it. You took one of the few pleasures she has left in her life and caused her such sadness. Karma will get even.

BOUQUET To April our waitress at the Keg. We were celebrating our 47th anniversary with friends (whose 28th was the week before). Thanks for your great service and wonderful surprise for both couples of a lovely piece of cake.

BEEF To the few loutish dog owners who abuse hospitable Lantzville’s beaches.  The town provides bags and bins. Yet all too often, uncaring dog owners leave their dogs’ droppings for others (including children at play) to step in.

BOUQUET To Wayne and his crew from Long Lake Nurseries who did an amazing job on our new rock garden at the front of our home

BEEF To the rude customer having a problem with a deli item. It is not customer service’s fault and they were trying to fix it for you. These people work hard; please give them a bit of respect. Those of us waiting behind you were still treated with kindness after your rudeness.

BOUQUET To Nanaimo. I am a new student from China. Many people help me to settle in quickly – Shelley, Jack and Miao, the bus drivers, bank clerks, even strangers on the road. Thank you very much.

BEEF To the driver of a black Jeep texting and speeding through Metral Drive school zone.

BOUQUET To the kind woman who helped me carry my groceries to my car, when you saw me struggling with all my groceries and my young daughter. Thanks for lending a hand.

BEEF To all smokers that insist on polluting the air with their foul stench and ruining the enjoyment of fresh air for those around them.

BOUQUET To responsible smokers that keep their smoking inside their own homes instead of inflicting the fumes on their neighbours.

BEEF The oceanside walkways along the Nanaimo seawall at Maffeo Sutton Park are a mess. Lazy landscaping.

BOUQUET To the lady clearing the garbage on Douglas Street. I’ve cleaned up some of the street also as there are obviously folks around this area who just chuck their junk out of their vehicle rather than deposit it into their garbage cans.

BEEF To the people at my apartment complex who insist upon leaving their empty beverage cans and bottles around my patio, and cigarette butts on my patio.
