BOUQUET To the man in the white pickup truck at Country Club Starbucks. Imagine my surprise when I was advised you had already taken care of it. What you didn’t know was it was my 50th birthday and that was a really nice way to start it.

BEEF To dog owners. Please start your dog walk with plenty of dog bags in your pocket. Not having a bag to pick up after your dog is no excuse for not picking up.

BOUQUET To Spice of Life Catering, Alair Enterprises Vancouver Island Ltd., Strategic Natural Resource Consultants, Slegg Lumber, McDonalds, AGS and Thrifty Foods for making the 2017 Vancouver Island Regional Championships a huge success.

BEEF To people who knowingly flaunt the law and park on the side of the road facing the oncoming traffic. And second beef to bylaw officers for not issuing tickets when they have been made aware of this problem.

BOUQUET To the Miss Nanaimo Ambassadors and the many other volunteers who helped make the 2017 Vancouver Island regional championship a huge success.

BEEF To the food store that advertised prime rib roast at $4.77 per pound for Thursday to Sunday. On Saturday, I was told by a manager that they have none, cannot get any, and will not issue a rain check. What a disgusting way to do business.

BOUQUET To Julio from Softmoc at Woodgrove Centre. He went over and above to special order in a pair of Blundstones for me from Kelowna. Such a great guy and excellent customer service.

BEEF To the person who is nasty and dangerous to his neighbours in the condominium.

BOUQUET To the nursing staff at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital and especially the lovely RN Janine in emergency. She is so kind and caring, even brought me tea while my husband was being treated.

BEEF To the sneaky food packaging beefer. Seriously, you’re buying bacon and you’re worrying about the fat-to-meat ratio? It’s bacon.

BOUQUET To Dan, David and Wayne for keeping the car park and sidewalk at Berwick on the Lake clear and safe during the recent snow storms.

BEEF To the running group using Buttertubs March for your training. This is a peaceful walk around the marsh and not enough room for runners.

BOUQUET to a great driver of a Mid Island Towing truck. I was driving a truck when it died and he came and got me out. He was from BCAA.

BEEF To everyone responsible for all people going to the Nanaimo hospital to pay for parking. The Cowichan hospital has free parking for all. I would like someone to explain this discrepancy.

BOUQUET To Canadian Tire manager Nigel Magee. We took our Mazda in. Felt in need of new brakes. After cleaning and ajusting, reported all fine. Damaged tire replaced too at no charge.

BEEF To mayor and council. Another $150,000 to be wasted replacing a council member. The city can run without a replacement.

BOUQUET To Jordan and Rob and all staff involved at Steve Marshall Ford for their unbelievable act of kindness. Just when I needed a lift, you delivered.

BEEF To the coffee shops. Both places need thorough cleaning. Patrons sitting on their seats with their dirty pajamas and putting their shoes on the bench seat. Window ledges are very dirty.

BOUQUET To Nanaimo Volunteer Association for the recent launch honouring the many volunteer groups operating in our city.

BEEF Donald Trump is carrying on a bromance with Putin simply because the Russian leader said nice things about him. His raging paranoia is causing him to alienate America’s allies and his own people.

BOUQUET to Brandon Wright at the Bowen Road Country Grocer for being so helpful to the lady at the bulk food bins.

BEEF To the union for using my union dues to send political mail outs and to try to tell me which party to vote for.

BOUQUET to our exceptional neighbours who organized the replacement of our Parkwood signs. A great improvement.

BEEF To people taking down the dinosaurs on Cable Bay trail. It may not be part of nature but it is a wonderful way to get children out into the environment to develop an appreciation of nature. They are our future.

BOUQUET To my son, Solomon, for always letting me know how much he loves and appreciates me. I love you, kid. Your love warms my heart.

BEEF To those who stole the beautiful flowers from my husband’s grave at Cedar Valley memorial garden. Shame on you.

BOUQUET To the staff at Microvision Computers for giving me fast and friendly advice about a virus scam.

BEEF To politicians who, after elected, seem to do nothing but wish us well on special days. Make promises that rarely materialize and run each other down prior to election.

BOUQUET To Sue Carlson and Sonia Stevens for the very successful fashion show for the Canadian Cancer Society. Their hard work and dedication was clearly evident. Many thanks to the models and volunteers.

BEEF To computers. Normally, I’d have gotten my refund by now, but the server was down so my return had to be mailed. Lord knows when I’ll get it.

BOUQUET To those who look for the Beef of the Week every Thursday at www.twitter.com/BeefsBouquets.
