Thanks to the volunteers and participating downtown merchants for a great experience Saturday April 23. For my visiting four- and seven-year-old granddaughters, it was a wonderful way to see the downtown of Nanaimo – from fish and chips at Trollers on the waterfront to the playground at Maffeo Sutton Park. And the weather couldn’t have been better.

A very Happy 8th Birthday to our son Brogan on May 3. Your humour and laughter make every day interesting. We are so glad that you are part of our family. We all love you so much. xoxo.

A humongous bouquet to everyone involved in caring for me during my recent lengthy hospital stay. Special thanks to Dr. Mathews and Dr. Carr for helping me at my sickest. I will be forever grateful.  Also thanks to Dr. Baird and all of the general surgeons who kept tabs on me, and to all the staff on the third floor at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital – especially nurses Lorri, Ashtyn, Kathryn and Gaydene.  Finally thanks to my family, friends and co-workers for all your support.

A big thank you to the staff of Brechin Lanes for letting us (Special Olympics) use your lanes on Saturdays. Have a good summer.

A Bouquet of Thanks to the man who used his boat trailer to pull our boat out of the water on a low tide day when our van couldn’t do the job.

A big, beautiful bouquet of flowers to my favourite bus driver – you know you are. You’re always so kind and you always put others before you. I look forward to catching your bus every week because there’s always something to talk about.

a hundred bouquets to all who took time to attend our vigil for the Whistler 100. Thanks to Gem Zolciak and to the volunteers of Island Dogz Rescue, Happy Tails, and federal Liberal candidate for Nanaimo-Cowichan, Brian Fillmore. A special thanks to Nanaimo MLA Leonard Krog for your reassuring words that keep us inspired to continue our efforts for legislative change to the federal animal cruelty laws. Also thanks to Pauline Carroll for helping to make this day a success. From Nanaimo vigil organizer Jacqueline Scott.

a Royal bouquet to Jeanne Cardinal and her crew for the fabulous job she did for the Royal Gala dinner and dance at Branch 257 Royal Canadian Legion in Lantzville. The food, the music and the decor were wonderful. There was nothing but high praise for the event. Thanks also goes to Roy Cardinal for all the hard work he does on a daily basis for the branch.

A huge thanks to the kind man who stopped and guided my horse home. Norman is a loved, although very mischievous animal. There should be more poeple like you.

A beautiful bouquet of pink roses to everyone at Bella Nails.Your store is the best ever. I always leave there filled up with girly love and incredible nails. Thanks for being the best nail salon in Nanaimo. From Heather Clark.

A beautiful bouquet of Honesty to the wonderful person who found my 11-year-old son’s bag with the new shirt he had just bought with his own money at Woodgrove Centre. You restored his faith in people – he initially thought someone had stolen it. You made my little boy happy.

A huge bouquet to the generous local business that sponsored the ad for the B.C. Cadet Honour Band. It was a welcome surprise to all who had worked on the March concert. The band will return to the Port Theatre next March.

A bountiful bouquet of sunshine and flowers to Tylor at Harris Mazda. You always go way above and beyond for your customers and that’s why you make the sale.

Many thanks to our Nanaimo Clippers hockey team. It is great fun to go to games and support you. From one winner of a Lazy Boy rocker. Many thanks – I love it.

A luscious bouquet of spring tulips to Liz for your generous gift of clothes and time. Thank you so much for paying it forward and thinking of us. We will be well dressed for our trip and sending you many happy thoughts.

Thank you to all the good neighbours who stopped their journey to help corral the inquisitive lamb, who had reached too far and landed on the wrong side of the fence. Your help and concern is much appreciated.

a Bouquet to the staff of The Kitchen Technician – Judy and Tyler. They made our renovation go so smooth and what a fantastic job. We highly recommend their company.

A bouquet of Canuck flags to Fan Fever at Nanaimo North Town Centre for having their second annual free hockey pool through the Nanaimo News Bulletin newspaper. We enjoyed it all year long and especially enjoyed going to Game 1 of the Canucks playoff season. Thanks for the memory. Go Canucks.

a love-filled bouquet to my husband for the great birthday dinner and all of your other efforts to ensure I had a fantastic day.

A Bouquet of Native Wildflowers to the horticulture students who helped me through a tough hike at Ammonite Falls.Special thanks to Shawn, Shannon, Kevin, and, last but not least, Sabrina. I couldn’t have finished without you.

A BEEF to those who hang wind chimes. Pleasant when the wind is gentle, chimes can be downright irritating when the wind gets up. The noise carries a long way and interrupts sleep at night and peace and quiet during the day. Think about your neighbours. Please control the clanging, especially when you are not outside.

A beef to my warped sense of humour. There’s a commercial on TV that is meant to be serious, but always tickles me. It’s about a prescription drug that can have severe side effects, including death. Part of the ad says “if you or a loved one have suffered any of these consequences…” I know what they mean, but I can’t help but envision a lot of really angry dead people contacting this particular law firm and joining in a class action suit.

A beef to the person who thinks Easter is just another day. Whether you are religious or not, Easter is about spending time with your family. There are 363 other days to shop.

Purple Dinosaur Beefs about the former A&B Sound building on the corner of the Island Highway and Commercial Street. All that money spent on a terminal for the cruise ship passengers to see this ugly purple building downtown.

A beef to the driver of a white car who purposely drove close to me as I rode my bike on the shoulder of the road.

A beef to the person who dumping dog poop bags on Franklyn Street. You might as well not bother picking it up since you are making the situation worse by littering.
