Thanks to the volunteers and participating downtown merchants for a great experience Saturday April 23. For my visiting four- and seven-year-old granddaughters, it was a wonderful way to see the downtown of Nanaimo – from fish and chips at Trollers on the waterfront to the playground at Maffeo Sutton Park. And the weather couldn’t have been better.
A very Happy 8th Birthday to our son Brogan on May 3. Your humour and laughter make every day interesting. We are so glad that you are part of our family. We all love you so much. xoxo.

A BEEF to those who hang wind chimes. Pleasant when the wind is gentle, chimes can be downright irritating when the wind gets up. The noise carries a long way and interrupts sleep at night and peace and quiet during the day. Think about your neighbours. Please control the clanging, especially when you are not outside.
A beef to my warped sense of humour. There’s a commercial on TV that is meant to be serious, but always tickles me. It’s about a prescription drug that can have severe side effects, including death. Part of the ad says “if you or a loved one have suffered any of these consequences…” I know what they mean, but I can’t help but envision a lot of really angry dead people contacting this particular law firm and joining in a class action suit.
