BOUQUET To all those who were genuinely concerned about my welfare when I fell, especially Debbie and her friends.

BEEF To the car racers on Duke Point whose after-hours screeching of tires and revving of motors is a disregard for others’ right to peace and quiet. Also to Nanaimo RCMP for its inability or unwillingness to stop it.

BOUQUET To the gentleman who purchased a sweater for me at the store. I was so in shock of your kindness I’m worried I didn’t thank you properly.

BEEF To the wheelchair beefer. Unreal you feel this way about other disabled folks who really do need a hand railing, extra room and raised toilets because of their own problems.

BOUQUET To a couple of great citizens of Nanaimo, Kevan and George, for cleaning up the fire debris from the China Steps area. The messy eyesore was left there far too long. It takes awesome residents like this who take the initiative and make our city great.

BEEF To the restaurant looking for a food service supervisor. What appears to be a great job description ends up saying ‘no education required.’ That’s a great way to teach our children.

BOUQUET To Mark and Colleen at the Javawocky coffee shop. They are the most understanding and compassionate people that I’ve come across – they don’t get enough recognition as they deserve.

BEEF To the woman who recklessly passed me on Tenth Street. Driving is a privilege to be taken with caution and care at all times. It’s not solely your safety and agenda on the road.

BOUQUET To Kelly’s Kitchen. When my husband and I went for lunch I told the waitress it was our 54th wedding anniversary. Two wonderful men at the next table heard us and bought our lunch.

BEEF To the neighbour in Rocky Point who blew through the plainly marked crosswalk when I was in it. When I flipped him the bird, he told me I was impolite instead of apologizing for his dangerous driving.

BOUQUET To all the wonderful people travelling Oakridge Drive when my medical scooter suddenly swerved, went into a shallow ditch and I was trapped trying to hold up a very heavy machine. A lovely lady stopped her car and managed to free my dog, while three gentlemen came along and I eventually got away from the machine.

BOUQUET To Troy Soderstrom at V.I. Tree Service. Amazing complete tree removal, including stumps and a first-class crew you should be proud of. Thank you for a great clean up, too.

BOUQUET To The two-headed giant for a giant first-year anniversary. All donations going to the Ronald McDonald House.

BOUQUET To Steve, Delbert, Nico the Alsatian and his handler, Kate and Henry, and ‘sunglasses and plaid jacket guy.’ You put a smile on my face each time we pass each other on our daily cycling or walking adventures along Cedar and Quennell roads.

BOUQUET To Alec McPherson for the stand-up job you are doing as our Regional District of Nanaimo director. Cable Bay outhouse, dead tree and many other issues have been dealt with because of Alec’s diligence.

BOUQUET To Kabops Turkish restaurant  at Departure Bay. Good food and reasonable prices.

BOUQUET To Dr. Norman King and all the staff at Franklyn Street Dental. By far the best dental clinic I’ve ever known. Without exception, all staff are professional and caring to their patients.

BOUQUET All the best to all teachers, principals, etc., in School District 68. You are the best.

BOUQUET To the helpful and kind staff at the Royal Canadian Legion in Lantzville and the wonderful paramedics who took me in the ambulance to emergencyl. I am forever grateful for your service.

BOUQUET To Applecross Automotive for solving and fixing for minimal cost a problem with a recently purchased older car that three other shops wanted to do expensive repairs to fix.

BOUQUET To organizers, participants and sponsors of the Miss Nanaimo Ambassador program. What a great group of young representatives for our city.

BOUQUET To the wonderful staff and my friend Teresa at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. I had excellent care while there for surgery. It is very much appreciated.

BOUQUET To the fantastic staff at R U Computing. Your dedication to customers, knowledgeable assistance and friendly manner were all very much appreciated.

BOUQUET To Mitch and Monica for stopping on the parkway Wednesday night to see if we were OK as we stopped for a warning light on our car. Then he phoned to see if we made it home OK.

BOUQUET In Nanaimo, we are very fortunate to have so many excellent grocery stores.

BOUQUET To the three guys and one gal who went above and beyond to retrieve my husband’s ring from a large garbage container at Nanaimo landfill.

BOUQUET To Wendy at Madrona for her special helpfulness to me when I was there for my mammogram.

BOUQUET To Bowen Road Dish. They supply the greatest menu for lunches, dinners and suppers. Great prices.

BOUQUET to Rotary Club for putting on such a great used book sale twice every year.

BOUQUET To the Good Samaritans who returned my wallet lost at Departure Bay, first to ICBC and then to my home.

BOUQUET To Dog’s Ear Metral Drive for going above and beyond for getting that special T-shirt made for my son’s working buddy.

BOUQUET To Elin Ross for her letter, Royal visit costs hard to justify. They are all cute, polished, spiffy but with all their own money. Don’t be so cheap. Pay for your own vacation.

BOUQUET To the Save-On-Foods Brooks Landing employee who helped me choose two good avocados so willingly.

BOUQUET To Ashley. She donated flowers from her recent wedding to Woodgrove Manor. The residents were thrilled and enjoyed them for days.
