When the Mayor says that no one complained about Berwick Residence in Campbell River (Council moves Berwick forward, March 2) it is because Campbell River is already high-rise and the Berwick residence is in a perfect position.
If you want to get the reality of what the Berwick Residence will look like in QB simply walk over to Fourth (Avenue) and look at Qualicum Manor. It’s three storeys high. Add, in your imagination, two more stories and you will see the huge blockage we will be looking at beside the Town hall.
Nothing wrong with Berwick residence, it’s just in the wrong place. The Gardens is perfectly situated. Anything across from the back of Naked Naturals would be perfect but that tiny lawn beside the Town hall is the wrong place. Take another look at five-rise Berwick in the context of low-rise Qualicum Beach and you cannot but agree, it’s the wrong size.
