I was a volunteer at the recent Valentine’s Gala put on by the Haugen Society. There was tremendous support from the community as far as buying the tickets and contributing items for the silent and live auctions.
The emcee, announced each of these supporters one by one. When he introduced the ladies of the hospital auxiliary’s Bargain Bin, the applause was heart felt and evolved into a standing ovation.
These ladies have seen the need in our community from the beginning and have steadfastly contributed to the ongoing costs of running our Haugen Healthcare Centre so Armstrong/Spallumcheen can keep doctors in town.
Their commitment to health care in our area, while providing a venue for recycled clothing and goods, is an amazing achievement. I thank them for their kind caring and dedication.
