We enjoy spending time at Crescent Beach as often as possible.
Especially enjoyable is picking wild blackberries in the summer. But the blackberries are disappearing, sadly, and many of those left are in the dog compound!
The goodness of fresh-picked blackberries is well known. It used to be a family outing, and what a natural way to teach children that not everything good for you needs to be expensive.
In the effort to have only “native” plants, we are seeing that the natural wild berry is being “rooted out” and nothing is replacing their goodness.
We hope more thought will be given to allowing this very valuable plant to live on in our neighbourhoods.
