The City of Trail has now brought in a new law regarding smoking in public venues and places.
As I agree with this law in theory I really disagree with the policy to include vaping in this package.
Vaping has nothing to do with smoking and I don’t understand why these people don’t see this. Generally when a person buys a vaporizer or as they are more commonly known, an electronic cigarette, they are doing this for the purpose of quitting smoking.
Isn’t this what the community at large has been asking for since the 70’s. Now these people have undertaken the challenge to leave tobacco behind and have chosen a safer, cleaner and healthier way to quit and still they are being victimized. So what is the answer?
The reason that smoking laws were changed was to get away from the fear of second hand smoke and I, as a smoker, have always agreed with that and for the most part respected peoples wishes with regards to my personal habits but now, with a vaporizer, there is no second hand smoke so why is there an issue with me using it in a public venue.
I am not harming anyone. I am not spreading nicotine to my neighbors and because I use a flavored juice it generally smells like raspberry in enclosed places so what is wrong with this?
We just cant win.
In England the general public and their government have gone the other way and have made vaping more accessible not less. They have spent the last five years or longer testing these products and comparing the effects of vaping to smoking and no matter which way you try to skew the details it always comes back that vaping is safer and more effective then any other device used for quitting smoking.
Isn’t it time for us vapor users to stand up and finally say that enough is enough. We have rights as well.
Oh well, this is just one man’s opinion.
