I do not agree with Sean Murray’s assessment of immigrants.
With baby boomers beginning to retire and younger Canadians having fewer children, our tax base has flat lined, and the number of tax-paying citizens per retiree will fall from 4 to 2.5 in the next decade.
Unless we start having five children per family, immigration of young, preferably educated men and women is the only way we’ll balance the age differential.
The number of Canadians under the age of 30 needs to increase by at least 1.5 per cent minimum a year for the next 15 years – 750,000 a year.
Bring ’em on.
