To the Editor,
Re: PM’s values aren’t Canadian values, Letters, June 2.
The letter writer has, for so many years, belaboured us with his extreme right-wing views, but to state that our prime minister’s values aren’t Canadian values, he assumes we are all of his ilk. Many Canadians thoughtfully voted for a return to true democracy; they’d had enough of one-man rule. The views and actions of the current Liberal government under the leadership of Justin Trudeau are certainly my values as a proud Canadian.
A poor choice of words to say “culture of death.” We don’t need more cases like Sue Rodriguez who had to get her desire for assisted death and an ending of agony carried out in secret. The appropriate law on assisted death will be sorted and passed.
Abortion is a matter of choice – by women, not interfering men. This government is pro-choice, not pro-abortion. A big difference.
Same sex marriage is a matter of two people loving and caring for each other. Transgendered people are real, born that way; they don’t need to be stigmatized. And for those who, when talking against same sex marriage say God made man and woman I say, well he didn’t do a very good job. There are many varieties between the two extremes.
As a devotee of the departed and unlamented Stephen Harper, the letter writer should certainly not talk about debates being cut short.
I believe in integrity, honesty and morality and have done for all of my 80-plus years. I sincerely hope I have also learned to look at all aspects of a situation and not preach one-sided, biased views.
