Card a good thing to do

Operation Resolution truly is a deed of true kindness and compassion by the Abbotsford Police officers.

Operation Resolution truly is a deed of true kindness and compassion by the Abbotsford Police officers.

The Christmas card initiative, employed by Police Chief Bob Rich and his crew, is intended to send a message to encourage better decisions to the inner-self of a wandering soul.

The power of kindness is said to be the golden chain by which society is bound together.

When I watch the genuine love shown by Derek Hoare for his autistic daughter (The News, Dec. 11), I am convinced that many a parent still nestles those very same feelings deep down in their hearts for their incarcerated, law-breaking child of theirs.

Yes, each one of those offenders is someone’s dear child.

In this season of joy, the thoughts and prayers of other mothers will turn to suffering parents who carry this heavy burden each new day. I like to believe that there is something good in every soul on earth simply because our Creator did not create misfits, they simply developed that way.

Operation Resolution is a little like plucking a thistle and trying to plant a flower instead. It is a good thing to do, although, it be slightly different in style than portraying the true meaning of Christmas, which does not need to be camouflaged or shielded by a heavy weapon and tactical gear, but is shouted all over the world, bringing the good news of salvation for each and everyone.

I am convinced I speak for many others  by sending a word of deep appreciation to our police officers for their positive actions of sending a card to encourage and offer a better solution to  the soul whose life has gone terribly wrong somewhere along the line.

May the influence of your example spread far and wide.

And, by the way, Chief Rich and policing staff, thanks so much for your diligent protection of us all throughout the year.
