Some of us care what happens on First Street even though we don’t live there. This is the most difficult place to find a place to park I have encountered in Sidney. I hope the new condos will have parking for at least two vehicles per unit to help alleviate the problem.
If the council is interested in the community’s overall need for a diverse supply of housing why does it approve only condos for millionaires? People who are paid minimum wage or less need small rental apartments close to their workplaces.
Until the Strata Act is revised to give some consideration to unit owners instead of strongly favouring the industry, the town would be well advised to stop issuing permits for condos. As we have seen in many letters over the years, this form of housing often leads to misery.
