Carol festival hit the right notes

The 62nd annual Rotary Christmas Carol Festival took place at the Performing Arts Centre

The 62nd annual Rotary Christmas Carol Festival at the Vernon Performing Arts Centre saw two performances on Dec. 6 and joyously concluded with a matinee performance on Dec 7.

Our media sponsors, The Morning Star and Sun FM, spread the word and the North Okanagan responded enthusiastically. Thank you to our media sponsors and also a big thank you to our other sponsors: Night Owl Copies and Prints, Kal Tire, KPMG, Nixon Wenger, B.C. Hydro, Distinctive Décor, Johnston Meier Insurance Agencies and the Performing Arts Centre.

The 2014 Carol Festival featured Pam Ferens, a versatile singer/songwriter who began a lifelong love affair with music as a child and now choirs of children and big people were provided a venue for the many talented singers in the North Okanagan.

Admission is always by donation and entertainment is provided by more than 20 groups, including a cross-section of local children’s, church and community choirs, as well musicians and vocal ensembles. Thank you for sharing your talents with us.

All told, there are about 2,000 people involved; truly a community event organized by volunteers and performed by volunteers.

The Carol Festival provides financial support for the annual Spring Breakout for Seniors held every March.

The Breakout is a free dinner and dance with entertainment and live music organized by the Rotary Club of Vernon for more than 500 local seniors and is very popular in the Vernon community.
