Cartoon is misleading

Douglas Channel is a fully navigable waterway, especially with today’s technology.

I take umbrage with the cartoon portrayal of the shipping channel between Kitimat and the open ocean (Raeside, The Leader, April 17).

Douglas Channel is a fully navigable waterway, especially with today’s technology. To portray it as a route full of obstacles is totally misleading. Anyone who has traversed it or flown over it will understand. This is nothing more than fear-mongering through misinformation.

Today’s freighters have access to the same location technology as the aircraft industry. Does anyone think twice about flying just because the pilots can’t see where they are going?
