This city deserves a birthday party. Starting from a sleepy village in the 1890’s producing agricultural goods, to its modern inception as an incorporated city in 1995, we need a day to say, “We are Abbotsford!”

Sporting a newly built hospital and cancer centre, a university, an international airport, becoming an emerging player in the aerospace industry and being backed by a thriving agriculture industry shows that Abbotsford is developing its own unique footprint of economic development and population growth.

An international airshow, Agrifair, our Canada Day parade, the Berrybeat Festival, the Run for Water’s carnival of events and the ASEC’s growing venue of entertainment acts are some of the events earmarking Abbotsford as a place to visit.

We need one day a year where all of us can celebrate the wonderful history and rich heritage of Abbotsford. In celebrating the birth the city, we celebrate ourselves. In this way we honor our past, plan for tomorrow, and take the time to recognize our achievements as a community.

Call it Abbotsford Day.
