This letter is in response to your readers who thought the recent “Celebration of Life” organized by the Town of Qualicum Beach for the iconic eagle tree on the beach did not deserve a fuss. I say “bravo” to the town for their creativity and sensitivity.
For longer than any of us have lived, this tree has provided habitat for countless birds and other creatures and has been a significant natural attraction for residents and visitors alike.
We have chosen to live in a rain forest, and need to value the role that trees play in sustaining our quality of life.
