Welcome to our newest member: Platform Properties.

The board and committee have started planning for the Business Excellence Awards on March 10, 2012.  We have already received a number of tourism packages from around the province. The nomination forms are about ready to go public and we are confirming sponsorship for the event. If you are interested in having lots of fun in the planning of our largest social business event of the year, we would love your involvement.

Our third annual Made in the Cariboo Fall Fair will be held this Saturday, Nov. 26 from 10 a.m. to  4 p.m. at the Tourism Discovery Centre.  We welcome everyone to come down and see all the Christmas decorations and enjoy the wonderful gifts available to help with your Christmas shopping ideas.

Our year end is Nov. 30 and the 2012 membership dues and decals will be sent out Dec. 1. Thank you so much for all the support you have given over the past year and we look forward to working with you all in 2012.  If there is something that we can assist with, please give us a call.

Cariboo Memorial Complex fitness passes are now available from our office for members with the deadline to register Dec. 9.  Many of our members are offering specials for your personal fitness and we encourage you to check them out for Christmas ideas. Have a wonderful holiday season; we will see you at our next meeting Jan. 26, 2012.

We invite everyone to attend our meeting and luncheon on Nov. 24 from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Signal Point Restaurant. Our guest speaker this month will be Mark Everard, site manager at Tolko Industries Creekside/Lakeview. Our board of directors and executive installation of officers will take place at this meeting with acting mayor Laurie Walters officiating.

Chamber meetings offer you the opportunity to meet other businesses and talk about ideas and issues that you have in your workplace. Members are encouraged to enter one of our draws sponsored by The Wolf and Rush radio and The Tribune. Your business could be profiled in the next Chamber Chatter.  We ask that you help us and the restaurant by providing your RSVP by Tuesday; call 250-392-5025 or e-mail visitors@telus.net to reserve your seat; $15 for members and $20 for non members.

Chamber of Commerce November

business profile

Angela Sommer started Angelkeys Music Studio in 1994. She took her music training in Germany, performing and travelling throughout Europe with her high school. She also holds a diploma of technology from BCIT and has worked in the aircraft industry from 1987 to 1992.  Angelkeys Music Studio offers lessons and coaching sessions in voice, piano, guitar, recorder and music theory and workshops for musical groups, bands and choirs.

The goal of the studio has always been to encourage people to enjoy music for a lifetime and to build life skills in each student. Not everyone wants to be a performer, but there is no reason why everyone can’t learn to play an instrument or sing for enjoyment. Students are taught according to their abilities and goals. Lessons span a variety of music styles from baroque and classical to country, pop, jazz and improvisation.  Students can take classical and modern music exams, participate in festivals and competitions and sing and play in many community events. Some have gone on and made music and performance their career.  Music is an integral part of Sommer’s life and she enjoys sharing it with people. She also offers a children’s choir and a teen vocal group on Friday evenings.

In her spare time she enjoys biking and volunteering as a ski patroller at Mt. Timothy and was elected as a director of the Williams Lake & District Chamber of Commerce.

To contact Sommer, call her at 250-305-4784 or e-mail angelkeys1@yahoo.ca.
