Chamber Chatter: Help celebrate Sooke business

Chamber seeks nominations for annual business awards.

Sooke has a distinct character that is uniquely its own.

It’s not only our landscape and recreation lifestyle that make us special, it’s the community, the businesses and the people who own them that create the quirkiness we have come to love – from multi-generational enterprises to businesses opened this past year; from large corporations to solopreneur home-based businesses.

Sooke is supported by a rich array of service professionals, tradespeople, restauranteurs, manufacturers, artisans and many, many non-profit organizations.

On April 1 the Sooke Region Chamber of Commerce is hosting the 17th Annual Business Excellence Awards at the Prestige Oceanfront Resort to celebrate these businesses and non-profit organizations.

All business and NPOs in the region are eligible to win but to be considered they must first be nominated by you. Nomination forms can be found on the chamber’s website, www.SookeRegionChamber.com, under events and are open until March 5h.

Our Sooke Region businesses and NPOs work hard to serve our communities. They support sports teams, sponsor events, and give thousands of dollars away in product and services to the numerous fundraisers that occur throughout the year. They help to shape our region’s identity and sense of community.

Life here would be very different had our local business owners not taken the risk to open up shop and put in so much time and effort to remain open and serving our community. They are truly an asset to the region.

Let’s not let their contributions go unrecognized.

Take a moment to nominate a business and NPO that you believe is doing an excellent job and if you’re able, attend the awards to further cheer them on.

This once a year event is an opportunity to say thank you and to let them know you appreciate them being here. Because where would we be without them?
