Christmas wish

Letter writer grateful for the actions of others that brought her home for Christmas

Vernon business owner Ed Nowek, of Planet Bee honey farm, helped to make my Christmas a great one and I’d like to give thanks for that.

I had lived in Kelowna for most of my life, up until this past spring when I decided to expand my horizons and move to Quebec. I love my experience here, and it certainly is enriching to be able to delve into the culture, history and language. That said, ever since I moved, I’ve very much missed my friends, especially in light of the holiday season.

I was chatting with my long-time friend and Ed’s daughter, Olivia, and she asked me what I was planning to do for the holidays. I replied that my holidays this year would be me by myself.

That reply was the optimist in me finding the good in my first holidays totally on my own. Olivia chimed in with a foretelling question, questioning me to know that if someone were to figure out a way to get me home for Christmas, would I be able to find someone to take care of my animals? I responded that theoretically I was sure I could figure something out.

That’s when everything started moving in fast forward. All of a sudden, I was receiving messages such as, “Is your schedule clear on these dates?” and, “You deserve to have a happy Christmas with people who love you.” Before I could believe what was happening, my flight was booked and thanks to Planet Bee, I was going to be home for Christmas!

I’m not sure if I can express enough how grateful I am to know such a wonderful family as the Noweks, and what a wonderful gift they gave me this holiday season.

On my own I could only dream of the possibility of coming home for Christmas, and thanks to them it came to fruition. I extend my sincerest and happiest thanks to Planet Bee for making this girl’s holiday season a happy one.
