City council’s communication concerning

It’s obvious the mayor hasn’t learned much about communication from his years in public service and administration.

Re: City manager calls work environment ‘challenging,’ May 19.

I watched footage of the Nanaimo council meeting during which city manager Tracy Samra offered an olive branch to Mayor Bill McKay. Granted, this was after Samra clearly detailed how the mayor and councillor Diane Brennan continue to dispute her abilities and legitimacy to anyone who will listen. Still, Samra’s offer was there and in gracious, sincere terms. The mayor’s response? “Bizarre.”

It’s obvious the mayor hasn’t learned much about communication from his years in public service and administration. Mentally, he’s still on the deck of that tugboat shouting “it’s my way or the plank.” Unless he becomes a better communicator, McKay will be the one going over the side in the next municipal election.

To the Editor,

What’s wrong at city hall? I watched both the live broadcast and the Sunday morning re-broadcast of the last council meeting and if what was said in those e-mails is true, then they should resign these positions ASAP.

The rest of council could run the city for the rest of this term.
