Editor,
I applaud Karen Powers’ letter to the editor (Revelstoke needs tourism initiative, letters, Aug. 21). I have lived in Revelstoke since 1959 and consider myself an old-timer here. I have been in business for myself in the construction industry for close to 40 years and completed many projects for the City of Revelstoke.
What I have noticed over the last 20 years is that the city has become more negative in all aspects of development, and this is also true of the Columbia Shuswap Regional District Area B.
For the City of Revelstoke to attract any kind of development they need to be helpful instead of creating obstacles that become overwhelming for entrepreneurs wanting to establish in Revelstoke. The city needs to cut costs by eliminating red tape so that staff can be reduced and our taxes can be at a level that will attract development.
I totally agree that the proposed development at Greeley will be an asset to our city and enhance what we already have.
