With the new arena, it is finally time to tear down the Civic Arena.
Yes, there is some history so put up a plaque with a photo on the site. Open up the walls and one will most likely find mold, asbestos, very out of date plumbing, electrical and who know’s what else.
Being a public use building there will be no putting the wall back and a for sale sign on the lawn. Only one very expensive renovation and we will still have a facility with undersized dressing rooms and lack of toilets, etc.
If a new arena is needed, then lets build one on the same site with modern, energy-efficient ice making systems, proper facilities and we can call it the new civic arena.
