Civic Arena

Resident makes some suggestions for possible uses of the facility

Further to Richard Rolke’s column about Civic Arena, Vernon resident Ron Cull (now deceased) told me the arena was built largely by volunteer labour and donated material. The city incrementally supplied cash. So Vernon had the first artificial ice surface in the Okanagan.

My opinion is the Civic, like Armstrong’s Hassen Area, be converted into a year-round facility for ball hockey, lacrosse, roller, skating, roller derby, etc.
