Clearwater Fire Department visits Raft River Elementary

Raft River Elementary School classes instructed in all safety measures concerning fire

Editor, The Times:

On Thursday, Oct. 13, Guy Holland, Jessica Gunn, Dan Daase, Kim Annis, Evan Capostinsky and Jan Westendorp, all volunteers from Clearwater Fire Department, visited Raft River Elementary School. Mrs. Gormley’s, Mrs. Shook’s and Mrs. Allan’s classes were all instructed in all safety measures concerning fire. Mrs. Bowden’s and Mrs. Carter’s kindergarten were also included and showed up with some awesome questions for the fire department to answer.

The students’ names were put in a draw for the Fire Chief for the day and Eliana Bromley won. The Deputy Fire Chief’s name was pulled and the winner was Carter McLellan. They are excited to get an opportunity to drive around Clearwater in the firetruck and to stop at A&W for a visit!

A fantastic handout was given to all the students. This Halloween safety bag included an agenda with a disc of safety measures, many reminders for the kitchen of fire safety and a workbook to work on. The children loved the handout and the contents will help families prepare their families for prevention and education around fires.

A big thank-you to Clearwater Fire Department for taking the time to help educate our students.
