Looking for a family vacation or a little getaway, why not a staycation in beautiful Williams Lake! With so much to do in the community and incredible sight-seeing – why go anywhere else?
The B.C. Day long weekend is just around the corner. It’s the perfect opportunity to fall in love with Williams Lake all over again.
Williams Lake is a wonderful place for locals to get re-acquainted with their own hometown. Locals can experience a relaxing trail ride at a local ranch, or visit local shops and galleries, or explore the region’s fascinating history at the Museum of the Cariboo Chilcotin — home of the B.C. Cowboy Hall of Fame and The Station House Gallery, the oldest public building still in use today.
Another great local attraction is the Williams Lake Visitor Centre. The log building showcases the region through a video and interactive displays– you can bring the family for an afternoon of interactive fun and enjoy a nice picnic on the green grass.
Take time to re-discover the beautiful outdoors of Williams Lake by enjoying a relaxing stroll around Scout Island Nature Trail. Pack a lunch for the walk or sit back with a good book.
If you’re looking for something a little more extreme, Williams Lake has more than 200 mountain bike trails for riders of all levels. For those daredevils looking for a little more of a challenge, the Jimmy Fox Trail is a thrill ride with spectacular views.
It wouldn’t be a staycation if you didn’t check out one of Williams Lake’s many restaurants. A local favourite is Karen’s Place— a quaint little gem, serving some of the best Mexican food in town!
Or, if you want a night away– consider a bed and breakfast like Juniper Trails located on 27 acres of beautiful surroundings. You will forget you never left home!
This summer, why not try a staycation and re-discover the beauty of Williams Lake and all it has to offer. I know I will be checking out our local shops and taking in the trails of local ranches.
Have a wonderful B.C. Day long weekend!
