Dear editor,Craig Dieno let us know that he dislikes Tom Fletcher’s articles.I happen to disagree; Mr. Fletcher generally thinks and writes from a well-informed and reasonable perspective, and I enjoy reading what he has to say about political affairs.But whatever our opinion is on any columnist or reporter’s work, Mr. Dieno’s letter highlights a valuable aspect of Canadian society.Although we do not all think the same way, we have no need to fear making our opinions known. We have the freedom to publicly discuss and argue with one another as we see fit.This interaction gives us a better understanding of our fellow citizens and hopefully helps us to see when we need to correct our viewpoint from time to time.Black Press through this newspaper has provided a means for Mr. Fletcher, Mr. Dieno, me and many others to express our ideas on current issues. As long as we do so in a thoughtful and respectful manner, the paper can continue to bring together our insights and sentiments as it serves the people of the Comox Valley.Brendon Johnson,Courtenay
