A lot of effort goes into making Christmas merry and bright.
Whether it’s moms and dads working hard to give their kids a taste of the magic of Christmas, business owners spending time to decorate storefronts on our downtown streets, or municipal crews running snowplows over the holidays to keep our roads safe every day – there’s no question that there are many unsung heroes behind the scenes of the Christmas season.
Our local volunteers and non-profits are among these often-unsung heroes.
Volunteers at the Williams Lake Salvation Army — supported by community food drives and donations to their Christmas Kettle Campaign — work hard to ensure everyone in our communities has enough to eat. Our local shelters do their best to ensure that everyone has a safe, warm place to lay their heads at night. And at this time of year, volunteers with programs like the RCMP’s Operation Red Nose do their part to make sure that everyone has a safe, sober ride home at the end of a holiday event, while raising money to support local organizations. This Christmas, I’d like to extend my thanks to the volunteers in all of our communities. To those mentioned above, and the countless others who have contributed to local events and charities that are working hard to brighten Christmas for those in need in our communities. The work you do makes our communities better, more inclusive and safer places to live, work and raise a family.
As we enjoy the holidays, let’s also remember that our food banks are often particularly in need of donations at this time of year, and commit to bringing a donation at least once this season. To all my constituents in Cariboo North — I wish you the very best of the season.
To each of you who work so hard to make this a special time of year for your families, your friends and our communities – thank you.
Please note that we will be closed from Dec. 19 to Jan. 3.
