Ahhh, it feels good that the election is finally over and our lives can get back to normal.
That’s not to say the Tribune is celebrating who was elected — we remain neutral on those sorts of things.
However, we would like to congratulate all of the winners in the 2011 municipal, regional, and school district elections.
For some of them, they will continue with their jobs. For others, being an elected politician is brand new territory.
Regardless if they bring a wealth of experience to the table or if they simply just have a passion for our community, all will have a lot of work ahead of them, and we hope they all listen to the community’s concerns and do their best to address them.
In Williams Lake, Kerry Cook was elected to a second term as mayor — in fact, all incumbent candidates in the municipal election were re-elected.
They will be joined by Ivan Bonnell, a former Williams Lake mayor, and Danica Hughes, who is new to the political scene.
In the Cariboo Regional District, Byron Kemp won the race in Area E, and Roger William won in Area J.
In the School District 27 election, Jackie Austin won the race in Zone 4; Sheila Boehm won in Zone 5, and Doug Neufeld won in Zone 6.
Again, congratulations to all of the candidates and thank you to the voters who took part in democracy and showed up at the polls.

The Tribune would also like to let the readers know that Wednesday is Robyn Chambers’ last day for about a year, as she is going on maternity leave. While we will certainly miss Robyn, we are excited for her and her husband.
Monica Lamb-Yorski, who recently moved to Williams Lake from Prince Rupert, will be filling in for Robyn and we are also excited to have Monica as part of our team.
