The Cowichan school board is doing what they were elected to do: they are advancing the cause of public education. SD79 trustees have rejected another round of cuts and submitted a needs budget to the provincial government.
Despite a decade of cuts amounting to $16 million, the Nanaimo-Ladysmith school board has decided against restoring programs and services. With no plan to reduce class sizes, SD68 trustees decided instead to spend an additional $272,000 on district-level management.
In Cowichan, the needs of students are the top priority. In Nanaimo-Ladysmith, it’s all about having more superintendents.
