Re: “Don’t trash North Delta,” Letters, Oct. 6.
I am puzzled by Deborah Jones’ letter.
What she has stated in her letter is the structural and infrastructure improvements that have taken place since 1986.
Every municipality has to do this or North Delta would look like a slum, which it does during spring clean-up week.
She has totally missed the point that the criticism levelled at North Delta by its own residents is about the quality of life which has deteriorated and slumped to an all-time low.
The rampant emergence of mega homes has destroyed the neighbourhood and the character of the community.
Our streets are made to look like car parking lots with vehicles parked on front lawns and illegally blocking driveways.
In addition, North Delta is experiencing crimes which were unthinkable a few years ago. Kids robbing kids, sexual assaults, grow-ops, drug trafficking, murders, domestic violence and the list goes on.
Also, according to Delta Police website there were 970 incidents of robbery, break and enter, theft of auto and from auto in North Delta in first eight months of this year compared to total incidents of 438 in South Delta.
These are alarming statistics and proves that the community is no longer living in a safe and secure environment.
For anyone to say that there is not much wrong is very naive and living dangerously in a bubble.
