Crofton Road an accident waiting to happen
In regards to the terrible condition of Crofton Road, I took the time to count each and every time I swerved to avoid potholes, ruts and moving to avoid oncoming traffic on my side of the road.
This tally was from Highway 1, Mt. Sicker Road, Chemanius Road, Crofton Road up to Cecil Street (Shell Station).
My count was in the high 90s!
Now that is one vehicle, one way and probably included swerving into the other lane at least a dozen times!
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to do the math. There was probably upwards of 50 oncoming cars in the 12 minutes it takes, one way. So let’s say 100 cars (both ways) every 15 minutes, equals 400 per hour, aproximately upwards of 4,000 in a full day, each swerving to avoid potholes.
Four thousand cars times 100 swerves equals 400,000 potential times a day that all vehicles would swerve to avoid all the problems in the road!
Add to this the number of cyclists and pedestrians that have to ‘run the gauntlet’ and the chance of fatalities is staggering!
In closing, the powers that be may use my survey free of charge, without having to conduct an expensive ‘study group’ of politicians, engineers and environmental lobbyists, only to decide that more studies are needed.
Fix. The. Bloody. Road!
