I live on a street that it is especially dangerous to cross.
I swear that it is the most dangerous intersection in all of Vernon.
The corner I am speaking of is 37th Street and 30th Avenue.
There is a walk light for crossing 30th Avenue at 37th Street.
There is also a walk light to cross 37th Street at 30th Avenue.
The speed signs reads 50 km/hr and the traffic comes down that hill on 37th Street towards 30th Avenue at no less than 70 km/hr and likely more.
I have used the walk light to cross 37th Street and the cars race to make the light and make a left hand turn at the light.
They cross even when you are on the crosswalk then the cars coming down 30th Avenue make a right hand turn to go up 37th Avenue.
These cars also turn on the walk light to make a right hand turn.
It is frightening to be on the crosswalk and the traffic is coming at you at such horrendous speeds.
One is taking their chances as no one respects the rules on this corner.
I have seen some very angry drivers when I signed to them to stop as the walk light was on.
There are never any traffic officers working this corner.
I have tried to think of a way to make this corner safer and have come up with a whole lot of speed bumps.
There are a lot of seniors in this area and many on carts and canes etc.
Would you please help us out with this problem as I am certain that it will save lives.
