I have been meaning to write about the bus service in Abbotsford for some time now and I congratulate (letter-writer) Jason Alexander for taking a stand.
I agree fully that the bus service needs immediate attention as to the operating schedule and capacity.
When the service was every 30 minutes, the buses were getting very few riders. Now the bus goes by every 15 minutes and they are getting less riders.
All that has done is increase the operating costs by doubling everything. Double the number of drivers, double the amount of diesel and double the number of empty seats.
There should be a definite cut-back of service after 6 p.m.
Smaller buses and less runs.
While you’re at it, please do something about the schedule, especially where and when the bus can stop and take a break. There is nothing more frustrating than getting stopped behind a bus on South Fraser Way and the driver is sitting there on a break or wasting time because he is early.
