I live on Winnipeg Street, which is single lane both directions, with parking on both sides. Very narrow to say the least, barely enough room for a vehicle, never mind the cyclists that insist on riding two sometimes three abreast.
This is very dangerous, more so when vehicles are forced to cross the centre line to get past them. This is an accident waiting to happen, and very avoidable.
Bicycle safety is what we teach our children — ride single file, watch for traffic, abide the street signs and lights. This isn’t just cyclists, there are also runners that do the exact same thing. We understand most are in training for the Ironman, but come on people basic safety should be our main concern for everyone. Maybe the Ironman committee should look into booking the safety village for a refresher course for our “adults”.
You are setting a bad example for our children. Sure you wear helmets, but you do not abide by the laws of the road, thus putting everyone, including yourselves, in harm’s way.
Please use your brain and think safety.
