To correct something Gordon Thomas stated in his letter Jan. 13,.bikes do not belong on the sidewalk, just as skateboards, electric bikes and scooters don’t.
The addition of bicycle lanes (such as they are) are definitely a safety feature for cyclists, but in the absence of a lane, people that know the rules of the road, know you ride with the flow of the traffic in the right hand lane and should observe the rules just as a motorist has to do.
In my opinion, Vernon has some of the worst bike riders I ever seen.
They do ride on sidewalks, cut in front of traffic, use pedestrian crosswalks for their own private use, seldom wear helmets, have improper clothing and no lights.
Why is it that nothing is done to enforce the law and penalize these countless infractions ?
