Editor: As a Langley teacher, I have to admit that I am completely baffled by the deafening silence from our Langley school trustees. I thought they cared about education in Langley.
I’ve met a few of them, and they say all the right things when at a workshop or a meeting, but where are they when their school system needs defending?
Can our district afford to lose summer school revenues? Can we afford fewer international students as parents call their children home, never to return?
Trustees can put some pressure on the government and on BCPSEA. If nothing else, let the Langley voters hear them come out against the teachers, if they think we are wrong.
Then they can let the voters decide in November. I don’t like their chances for re-election, if they keep silent.
