Demand changes

I have to wonder if commercial interests haven't gotten to council

I was going to complain about the millions to build a water treatment plant with over 92 per cent of the cost to be placed on the Parksville homeowner and only seven per cent placed on commercial enterprises who use 30 per cent of the water.

But, I just got caught up with the release of the draft Official Community Plan. No one in my circle wants three houses on a 60-foot lot, especially next door — we have parking problems already.

Why must we try to be like Vancouver? Most of us moved or retired here to escape big buildings, congestion and noise. Someone is not listening and I consider this draft OCP serious.

How could this change from the conception? I can only think that commercial interests have gotten to council and the compilers of the draft OCP version.

I urge citizens to attend the open house and demand changes. I have witnessed many times how lengthy, drawn-out projects lose credibility and are twisted to meet an end.
