Disturbed by negative reaction to homeless shelter proposal

Dear editor,
I am quite disturbed by the negative comments about the proposed homeless shelter.

Dear editor,

I am quite disturbed by the negative comments about the proposed homeless shelter.

Think of the benefits; the homeless will be cleaner, healthier, less hungry, less desperate. It is nonsense to suggest having the shelter on the outskirts will ‘hide’ the problem.

Whether homeless or not people still need and want human interaction and they will come downtown to get it. Maybe we should move the library out to the boonies, too.

As to the morality of the homeless … I’ve been spat on and vilified by the rich, while a homeless man literally gave me the shirt off his back to keep me warm. The only way out is to treat all members of our society as equals.
