Re: Nancy Whelan’s column in the Feb. 14 edition of The NEWS (‘Don’t wreck the wrack- seaweed concerns’).
I live in Qualicum Bay and can understand the concern about the growing seaweed industry, but after working part time for Island and Prairie Carbon Sequestering Inc. my concern has long gone.
This company has done its research and is concerned about the marine ecosystem and sustainability.
If Whelan would have taken the time to do her own research and really get to know what is going on it wouldn’t seem strange at all.
After all, would it not be better to learn and support a growing industry that could benefit and provide hundreds of jobs to us, by spreading awareness rather than concern?
